BLDEA’S Smt. Bangaramma Sajjan Arts and Commerce College for Women was established in the year 1983, to educate and empower the women in the Socially, Economically and Educationally backward region of North Karnataka. During the last 33 years, the college has made a great progress. As a result the strength of the college is increased to 900.

The college is situated in the heart of the city with well protected campus stands on a wide area of 6 acres 20 guntas.

The management is striving to develop the college into an excellent centre of higher education for women.

The college is permanently affiliated to Karnataka State Women’s University Vijayapura and is included under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956.

The college has adequate number of qualified and experienced Staff, well equipped Labs, Class Rooms, Internet Facility, Indoor and Outdoor Facilities.

The college is renamed as BLDEA’s Smt. Bangaramma Sajjan Arts and Commerce College for Women, Vijayapura from the academic year 2013-14 to honor the great Philanthropist Smt. Bangaramma Sajjan.

The college has been striving to inculcate the spirit of social service among the students by NSS and NCC programmes.

The college is re-accredited in the year 2010 and awarded ‘B’ Grade with CGPA 2.71.

There is constant increase in the pass percentage of students in the university examination. During the academic year 2015-16, Pass percentage in B.A. Final Year is 96% and in B.Com 93%. We are very glad to say that, Miss. Samina Sindagikar Secured Ist rank in Arts, Miss. Arati Alagundagi IIIrd rank in Arts, Miss. Rohini Kurandawad IXth rank in commerce and Miss. Chaya Dudagi VIIth rank in Arts, and got two gold medals in Sociology to KSWU Vijayapura. Many of our students have made a name in National and International Level Sports. Miss.Rajershwari Gayakwad Selected to Indian Women Cricket team and Miss. Sharubai Dhaded and Miss. Anjana Mendegar have represented at National and International Level Karate. There are 68 University blues. During the last 6 years 160 students particpated in cultural; events and won prizes in Youth Festivals of KSWU and programmes organised by other Institutions.
