ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Department of Economics was stablished in 1983. It is the leading Social Science Department in the college that has provided an applied edge to the course being offered. The department offers Economics for Bachelor of Arts and the subject is compulsory for Bachelor of Commerce for Non-NEP program.
AIMS
The aim of the Department of Economics is designed to (1) provide a general understanding of the functioning of the economic system and the role of institutions, groups, and regions within that system; and (2) prepare the student for employment in industry, the professions, and government, or to pursue graduate work toward such advanced degrees as the M.A., M.B.A., or Ph.D. in economics, business, or related fields.
OBJECTIVES
- To enhance students understanding about the theoretical aspects and practical analysis of economic problems.
- To understand the Economic problems of the nation and the region.
- To develop the understanding of Micro and Macroeconomic Theory and Their Application to the Economic Sub-fields.
- To empower the students with critical, analytical and creative use of theory to understand the socio-economic environment and approach the contemporary problems with better solutions
