NSS Unit – I & II in association with the Archaeological Survey of India and the Tourism Department, organized a World Heritage Day celebration on 18 April 2026. The program emphasized the importance of preserving India’s rich cultural heritage, with a special focus on Bijapur’s historical significance.

• Sri Vijay Kumar (Officer, Archaeological Survey of India): Delivered an insightful address on the grandeur of Indian monuments, highlighting Bijapur’s 44 heritage sites, many of which are recognized by UNESCO.
• Sri Arvind Hugar (Tourism Department): Spoke on the importance of Indian heritage and the collective responsibility of society in its preservation.
• Dr. Y. Tammana (Principal): Reflected on Bijapur’s historical legacy and its enduring cultural heritage.
Vote of Thanks
The vote of thanks was proposed by Anil Kumar Banijegar (Consultant, Tourism Department), who elaborated on Bijapur’s water sources and waterways, underscoring their significance in UNESCO’s heritage considerations.
