EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO NRC, CIVIL HOSPITAL, VIJAYAPUR

BLDEA’s SBS Arts, Commerce and Science College for Women, the Department of Home Science organized an educational visit to the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), Civil Hospital, Vijayapur. The visit was arranged for the students of B.A. Home Science on 17th April 2026, under the guidance of Mrs. Anita S. Dolli, HoD, Department of Home Science with the
Objectives —
To understand the concept of menu planning in hospitals,
to study the nutritional requirements of patients,
to observe diet modification for different diseases,
to gain practical knowledge about food service management in hospitals and also
to learn about the functioning of the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC)
About NRC (Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre)
The Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) at Civil Hospital, Vijayapur focuses on the treatment and care of malnourished children. It provides therapeutic diets, medical care, and nutrition education to mothers and caregivers.
During the visit, students were guided by the hospital nutrition staff.
Learning Outcomes by the visit:
Students gained practical knowledge of hospital dietetics
Understood the importance of nutrition in recovery and rehabilitation
Learned how to plan balanced diets for different patients
Developed awareness about malnutrition and its management.
The visit to NRC, Civil Hospital, Vijayapur was highly informative and beneficial. It provided students with valuable exposure to real-life hospital settings and enhanced their understanding of menu planning and nutrition care. Such visits bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
