The B.L.D.E. Association’s Smt Bangaramma Sajjan Arts, Commerce and Science College for Women, Vijayapur ,as an IQAC initiative , the Department of Home Science organized an Exhibition of Nutritional Education as Departmental Best Practice on 16 March 2026 at 11:30 AM in the Open Theatre .
The exhibition was conducted for high school students and parents with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and healthy eating habits.
The Home Science students actively participated in organizing and presenting various charts, models, and demonstrations related to balanced diet, food groups, importance of child nutrition, food pyramid, BMI, and deficiency diseases.
Students clearly explained the concepts of Macronutrients and Micronutrients, the role of different Food Groups in maintaining good health, and the importance of adopting a balanced diet in daily life. Home Science students also assessed Nutritional status of the High School Students by taking Anthropometric Measurements. More than 200 students and 20 parents attended the exhibition.
The event was organized under the guidance of Mrs. Anita S. Dolli, Head of Department, Home Science. The programme was supported by Dr. Y. Tammanna, Principal of the college.Dr. Bhakti Mahindeakar, IQAC Coordinator, and other faculty members attended and appreciated the students efforts.
The exhibition received an encouraging response from the visitors. It helped in spreading awareness about healthy dietary practices and highlighted the practical knowledge and communication skills of the Home Science students. The programme was successful in promoting nutritional education among the community.
