Report on HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme

An HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme on the theme “HIV/AIDS and Youth” was organized on 15 September 2026.
The programme commenced with an invocation, followed by welcome remarks by Mr. Somashekar Tuppad. Dr. Sunil Kumar Yadav, Red Cross Cell Coordinator, delivered the introductory address and highlighted the objectives and significance of the programme.
Eminent resource persons — Dr. S. G. Rudagi, Head, District Red Cross Society, Vijayapura; Dr. Y. S. Patil, District AIDS/Tuberculosis Control and Blood Safety Officer, Vijayapura; and Shri Baburav V. Talawar, District Supervisor, DAPCU, Vijayapura — delivered insightful sessions on HIV infection, prevention, testing and treatment. They emphasized the crucial role of youth in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and stressed the need for correct knowledge, safe practices, timely testing, and elimination of myths, misconceptions, stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.
As part of the initiative, the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Vijayapura, organized a district-level Reels Competition on HIV/AIDS awareness to encourage creative communication of key messages. Our college students brought laurels to the institution — Kum. Chandana Yadav (B.Sc. 4th Semester) secured 2nd place and Kum. Rashmi (B.Com. 1st Semester) secured 4th place, winning cash prizes at the district level.
In his presidential remarks, Principal Dr. Y. Tammanna appreciated the organizers, resource persons, staff and students, and emphasized awareness, responsible behaviour and active youth participation in building a healthy and informed society.
Smt. Shaila Rabagond proposed the vote of thanks, and Ms. Chaitra Aloor effectively anchored the proceedings.
The programme was attended by the Principal, IQAC Coordinator, approximately 20 faculty members, and 137 students.
