National Librarian’s Day

BLDE Association’s Smt. Banagaramma Sajjan Arts, Commerce and Science College for Women, Vijayapur, Department of Library and Information Centre commemorated National Librarian’s Day. This day, marked annually on the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the father of library science in India, serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring significance of libraries in shaping minds and societies.
The day’s proceedings commenced with a photo Pooja of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan by Dr. Y. Tammanna, Principal of the college.
The event featured an insightful address by Smt. Savita Kulkarni, Librarian. The presidential remarks were given by the Principal, Dr. Y. Tammanna emphasizing that libraries are not just quiet spaces filled with books, but vibrant ecosystems of ideas. The Books Exhibition was also organised . Later, Best Library User awards were given to the students; cash prizes and certificates were issued to the winners. Smt, Savita Kulkarni, Librarian; Dr Bhakti Mahindrakar, IQAC Coordinator; Mr .Vidyanand Nandagaon; all teaching and non-teaching staff and the students of the college were present during the event.
