AIDS Awareness Programme

The Youth Red Cross Cell of BLDEA’s SBS Arts, Commerce and Science College for Women, Vijayapur, organized an AIDS Awareness Programme on 1st April 2026 at 11:00 A.M.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Shakuntala Patil, YRC Cell Coordinator, who introduced the guest speaker. Dr. Bhakti Mahindrakar, IQAC Coordinator, emphasized the importance of conducting such awareness programmes for students.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Deepak Chinagi, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, BLDE D.U. Shri B.M. Patil Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Vijayapur, addressed the gathering with an informative presentation on the causes, prevention strategies, and retroviral therapy of HIV/AIDS.
Principal Dr. Y. Tammanna delivered the presidential remarks, highlighting the role of education in breaking stigma and promoting compassion. A speech competition on AIDS awareness was organized on 30th March, and prizes were distributed to the winners by the Chief Guest during the programme.
The event was anchored by Smt. Shweta Tadavalagi, while Ms. Chaitra Aloor delivered the vote of thanks. Shri. V. S. Nandesh, Dr. A.T. Shrinivas, Mrs. Deepa Lagali, Ms. Rashmi Patil, and 25 staff members graced the event.
Around 100 students actively participated, making the event a success. The programme effectively focused on:

Encouraging early diagnosis
Promoting compassion and empathy towards individuals living with HIV/AIDS
