BLDEA’s SBS Arts, Commerce and Science College for Women, Vijayapur, organised Lagori Competition for Students
on the Eve of International Women’s Day – 2026
On the occasion of International Women’s Day – 2026, a Lagori competition was organized for the students (B. A., B. Com., BCA & B. Sc ) of the Degree College on 5th March 2026 at the college playground of BLDEA’s SBS Arts, Commerce and Science College for Women, Vijayapur. The event was organized by the Women Empowerment Cell with the aim of encouraging physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and active participation among the students.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the principal, Dr. Y. Tammanna, and coordinated by the Women Empowerment Cell Coordinator, Smt Anita S. Dolli. The traditional Indian game Lagori (Seven Stones) was selected for the competition to promote cultural sports and to create a spirit of enthusiasm among the students.
A total of 8 teams from different classes participated in the competition with great energy and excitement. The event started in the afternoon at the college playground. The rules and instructions of the game were explained to the participants before the beginning of the matches.
The students actively participated and displayed excellent team spirit, coordination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. The atmosphere was lively and filled with cheering from fellow students and staff members who gathered to encourage the participants.
After a series of competitive matches, the winning and runner-up teams were declared and appreciated for their performance. The winners were congratulated by the staff members and certificates were distributed to encourage the students.
The Lagori competition was a great success and helped in creating awareness about the importance of physical activity, confidence, and women empowerment. The programme also added joy and enthusiasm to the celebration of International Women’s Day in the college.
Overall, the event was well organized and enjoyed by all the participants and spectators.
