Celebrated World Food Day

The Department of Home Science of BLDEA’s SBS Women’s College, Vijayapur, celebrated World Food Day – 2025 on 17th October 2025 with great enthusiasm and awareness. The theme for this year was “Hand in Hand for Better Food for Better Future”, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to build a sustainable and nutritious food system for all.
The program was graced by Mr. Shantesh Kalasagond, Founder and Managing Director of Shubhashree Hotel, Vijayapur, who was invited as the Resource Person for the occasion. He also shared valuable insights from his experience as an entrepreneur in the hospitality industry, emphasizing the importance of hygiene, balanced nutrition, and sustainable cooking practices.
The guest for today’s event Dr. B. V. Patil, HOD Hindi, ASP Commerce College, Vijayapur, highlighted the significance of teamwork in ensuring food security and the need to reduce food wastage.
The celebration also featured the inauguration of a food competition on *“𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐚,”* where students showcased a variety of authentic regional dishes.
The event began with an invocation song followed by a formal welcome address and introductory speech by Smt. Anita. Dolli , Head of the Department of Home Science. The Principal Dr. Y. Tammanna,appreciated the department’s efforts in promoting awareness on healthy eating and preserving traditional food culture, also appreciated for organizing such meaningful programs that connect academic knowledge with real-world applications.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, the management, and all participants for their active involvement. The celebration successfully conveyed the message of working together “hand in hand” for a healthier and more food-secure future.
All staff and students participated in the event with great enthusiasm.
