On the Eve of National Nutrition Month – 2025
Date: 08-09-2025
As a part of the National Nutrition Month – 2025 celebrations, the Department of Home Science organized an awareness program on “Good Food Habits” for the preschool children of BLDE Associations Samanvaya – The Inclusive School, S. S. Campus, Vijayapura on 08th September 2025.
The program aimed to create awareness about the importance of healthy eating practices among young children, laying a foundation for lifelong wellness.
The session began with a warm welcome by the school staff, followed by interactive activities designed to make children understand the value of nutritious foods. Colorful charts, flashcards, and food models were used to explain the benefits of fruits, vegetables, milk, and cereals. Simple messages like “Eat more colors,” “Drink milk daily,” and “Say no to junk food” were shared in a playful and engaging manner.
To make the session more interesting, rhymes and short stories on healthy eating were presented. Children actively participated in identifying food items, grouping them into healthy and unhealthy categories, and enthusiastically repeated slogans promoting good food habits.
Teachers of the inclusive school appreciated the effort, highlighting that such activities help children not only learn but also practice healthy routines at home. Parents were also sensitized about the importance of providing balanced meals and reducing packaged/junk foods in children’s diets.
The visit successfully spread the message that early childhood is the best stage to instill good food habits, which play a vital role in physical growth, mental development, and overall health.
