Awareness Programme on Geneva Conventions Organized by Youth Red Cross Unit

Report on Observation of World Geneva Day – 14th August 2026

On the occasion of ‘World Geneva Day’, an Awareness Programme was organized in coordination with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Vijayapur Branch and the Youth Red Cross Unit / Cell of BLDEA’s Smt. Bangaramma Sajjan Arts, Commerce and Science College for Women, Vijayapur on 14th August 2026 at 11:00 AM in the college premises.

The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students and Youth Red Cross volunteers about the significance of World Geneva Day and the importance of the Geneva Conventions. The session also focused on the role and responsibilities of Youth Red Cross volunteers in creating awareness on various issues related to Youth Health and humanitarian service.

The programme was graced by Dr. Tammanna Y, Principal of the college. Shri. S. G. Muranal, Secretary, IRCS District Branch, Vijayapur, Shri. Gopal Patil, Member, IRCS District Branch, Vijayapur, YRC Coordinator Dr. Sunil Kumar Yadav, , NSS Programme Officers Prof. V S Nandesh, Prof. Deepa Lagali, YRC Member, Shri. Somashekhar Tuppad, Teaching Faculty of History, Shri. Vishwanath Naik, and College YRC youth volunteers were present on the occasion.

The speakers highlighted the history and objectives of the Geneva Conventions and emphasized the need for youth to uphold humanitarian values, promote health awareness, and actively participate in Red Cross activities.
