“Celebrating the Pillars of Knowledge”
On August 12, 2025, BLDEA’s Smt. Banagaramma Sajjan Arts Commerce and Science College for Women in Vijayapur Department of Library and Information Centre resonated with a spirit of intellectual celebration as it commemorated National Library Day. This day, marked annually on the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the father of library science in India, serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring significance of libraries in shaping minds and societies. The college’s library, the heart of its academic life, took the lead in organizing a series of events to honour this occasion and reinforce the profound role of knowledge in a student’s journey.
The day’s proceedings commenced with a photo Pooja of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan by Prof. V. S. Bagali Administrative officer (Degree Colleges) BLDEA’s Vijayapur, Prof. Vijaya. B. Kori Physical Director, BLDEA, Dr. Y. Tammanna Principal of the college, Prof. Savita Kulkarni Librarian, IQAC Coordinator, Shri. Vidyanand Nandagon, Teaching and non-teaching Staff of the college.
The Principal, Dr. Y. Tammanna addressed the gathering, emphasizing that libraries are not just quiet spaces filled with books, but vibrant ecosystems of ideas, where curious minds converge and new perspectives are born. A key highlight of the day was exhibition of newly arrived books, felicitation of winner students in Essay computation which was held by Dept of Library and information Centre on occasion of the same programme and distribution of best library User award to the winner students.
